FX 727 At MKE With 2/3 Engines Removed

Wed Mar 21, 2012 10:22 pm

I'm curious of anyone knows why there is an FX 727 at MKE that has been there for at least a few weeks without the two side engines? It isn't by the FX sort area, either. It is parked near Layton Ave.

Its been there for more than just a few weeks, more like a few years at least.
Will you watch the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Only if coach Eric Mangini resigned after a loss.

Heh, I fly a few times a year, I guess I didn't notice it before!

So what is the scoop?

I guess it could be a related question.. if an older aircraft has an issue (especially engines) at an airport, and not worth fixing, are any aircraft scrapped at airports that are not the usual scrapping grounds like in AZ, CA, etc?

Once in a while. When an AA 767-200ER had an engine failure at LAX and couldn't be repaired, I seem to remember that it got scrapped on site.

Ahh.. FX donated it to MKE actually a long time ago for safety training!
