Thu Mar 22, 2012 8:37 am

Starting from 16th July, 4 x weekly operating with A319s.

Excellent news for Edinburgh, and Scotland in general!

Great news! I love Edinburgh, amazing city.

They were probably busy solidifying their key markets in Spain, Italy, Russia, Ukraine, Balkans, Mid East until recently. Only now they have turned their attention to expanding in Northern Europe again. This was also part of their original European expansion announcement a few months back.

What kind of market are they aiming at here, what would be their key target group?

Woah, I was not expecting that!

First signs of better competition not that BAA have to give up EDI?

Brilliant news to hear of this route finally developing. I think a few had suspicions it was in the pipelines. I hope it wasn't the 'ME' route the Scottish government was alluding to in times past.

Yes, they much closer and probably with a lower operating cost, EDI is quite a stretch for an A319. I have a feeling QR might be taking the same tactic with shoring up their more immediate destinations before considering EDI

Well, quite a range at EDI

The city has become more of an economic centre, so you'll get Asia connecting passengers, Scottish love holidaying so you'll no doubt get some terminating traffic in IST and Japanese are big tourists so they might even use the service.

Good news EDI!

It's actually a walk in the park for the A319 - only 1780 miles
