Looks like they get a 90 day reprieve from debtors. I wish them luck.

They hired Steve Miller as CEO. Every company he managed has gone through bankruptcy - that is his method of turning around a business. The moment his name is mentioned, chapter 11 is guaranteed to follow. The bloodletting will start soon, that is always the next step...

That's really not good for the city of Wichita. First, they will lose Boeing next year...then Hawker Beechcraft will file for bankruptcy protection.

The company is owned by Goldman Sachs, so money will be available to them if they can make a good business case for additional investment.

Wichita is truly undergoing a very difficult time. Years ago it was the insurance liability on general aviation, then fuel prices, and ultimately the government's hostile attitude towards business aircraft, particularly business jet aircraft. It has hurt not only Beech, but Cessna and Lear (as they are commonly called) and the infrastructure that supports them. This pain has extended well beyond Sedgwick County, but Wichita seems to be the epicenter of all this.

As an old Beechcrafter, I hope they come out of this stronger as the industry needs the Beech products.

So what's the story behind the economics of the 1900? Why is it we aren't seeing Hawker/Beechcraft coming out with new products for commercial carriers? They seem to have put all their eggs in the private aircraft basket while the industry could use more variety in terms of commercial offerings.
