NH To Send 787 From HND To Kagoshima And Fukuoka

Wed Apr 04, 2012 5:32 pm

Good news for my buddy who works in Kagoshima:

Per NH's Facebook:

Quote:
ANA's Boeing 787 is currently operating on 5 Japan domestic routes. Starting May 2012, we plan to add 2 more: Haneda=Fukuoka and Haneda=Kagoshima!

Any more domestic routes gonna be added, besides these?

Good for NH. Their domestic network is short-distance enough that they can afford very tight turnarounds in between their runs to FRA, SJC, etc.

I guess the downside would be if they set utilization too high, they'll be in an avalanche when one goes tech and the delays/cancellations cascade across.

I think you are getting thing confused. As more domestic 788s are delivered, they will be expanding their 788 domestic network. This has nothing to do with the HND-FRA because those two int'l 788s will only do int'l runs. Maybe a turn on a NRT-Asia run if the loads are poor as the 788s are configured for only 158 pax while the 763s are configures for approx. 202/214 or 772s at 306 pax.
SJC will be run out of NRT and there is still no set date on the start-up.

Living in one of the first two domestic destinations from Haneda (Hiroshima) and hopping up and down to Tokyo on 787s whenever I can (flight #5 coming up next weekend), I've been monitoring the schedules closely and it's fascinating how they change. In the space of barely half a year 787 usage on the Hiroshima route has varied between one and three a day. The flights they're used on change too. The 10am flight one month and the 3pm one the next. I guess as more planes arrive and more destinations are offered, usage must be tweaked regularly. Keeps it interesting, I suppose.

Makes it very challenging to spot    haha
What's the flight time to Hiroshima from HND? I'm considering taking that flight this summer.

Not much more than an hour. Barely time to play with the windows!
