WN N8305E - Special Livery?

Mon Apr 09, 2012 4:29 am

I came across a photo of Southwest's N8305E during its first flight on the Pudget Sound - Boeing Test Flights blog, and it is unpainted and the engines are grey. In the past this has indicated that it will be a special livery as they're usually painted before their first flight... I think. Anyone have any details or ideas?

Also, the belly is white and not the standard red.

Isn't the painting done at BFI? Or is that still being done at RNT?

The belly is not white. That is just the wing to body fairings. The belly is in the primer color...for now.

Special schemes have grey winglets. This one has standard ones.
Short answer: no special scheme.

Correct. That's always the tell tale signs of a special paint job... the winglets will be grey. Also, I think Illinois One (N918WN) was painted somewhere in Louisiana, so another clue for the future might be if the plane is flown somewhere unique prior to delivery.
