Great thread but Pardon my ignorance for asking why do the numbers for the 747f reflect only 2 when more than 2 have been delivered?

Exellent idea!

They've actually taken quite a big lead in widebodies. They delivered 38 in the first Quarter (58%) campared to Airbus @ 27 (42%). Interestingly, the difference is exactly down to the 6 747s and 5 787s they've delivered.

Airbus have outdelivered Boeing in terms of widebodies in three out of the last four years (2008, 2010, 2011) but Boeing should win this year and next quite easily. Not till the A350 is on stream will Airbus have much chance of catching up.

From the Orders thread:

Quoting Someone83 (Reply 93):
You can't only look on one month as deliveries will fluctuate from month to month, especially on such a low volume aircraft as the A380, but need to take a look on it over a longer time period. So the average production of 2-2,5 per month still applies, and Sirbus is likely to deliver four A380 in April

That would be awesome if 4 A380s was delivered in April. But more than awesome, it would be very surprising since Easter fall entirely on this month this year.
I believe it when I see it. Has there ever been a month with more than 2 deliveries?

Btw .. thanks for this thread Someone83!

Yes. Several times in 2011, including 4 in December.

I have a concern that this thread will become polluted and a data overload if people post every delivery.. posting the quarterly summaries is great and informative.. posting or re-posting (in the case of A380,787 and 747-8 from specific model threads) will become a mess... especially when some customers of single aisle planes take two - three a week.

I agree, and as both manufactures present monthly delivery figures it's in my eyes most logical to to monthly updates. Although some activity between is nice so the thread don't get archived

I propose that we allow the announcement of "special" individual deliveries (special liveries or first model introductions or first model for an airline).

Otherwise, we just post monthly totals like Hamlet69 does for orders in his thread.

As Someone83 stated, the problem is that this thread will be archived if there is no post within one month. I just checked the list of elder threads: you cannot post on all threads older than 22 days.

So some updates "in between", e.g. special liveries etc. as proposed above is the only chance to keep it alive.

Speaking of:

Quoting Stitch (Reply 8):
first model introductions

Flightblogger 2.0 raises some questions if LH will take over their first B 748i as planned, saying that "on 30 March, Lufthansa CEO Christoph Franz refused to commit to a delivery date during a brief interview on the sidelines of an International Aviation Club luncheon, even though his airline had already tipped his hand a week earlier".
Does anybody know more?

all but the last "first model for an airline" are sufficiently covered.. and most airlines first of model appear on the home page scrolling pictures within days..

Special liveries threads run the gamut of like/hate, why, for 40-50 posts.. I think two opportunities for that discourse are one too many.
