Wed Oct 11, 2000 1:36 pm

Hi everyone! Can anyone tell me if there is any B 747 aircraft serving transatlantic routes for United Airline?

Thanks a lot! I believe there is quite a number of B 747-400s serving transatlantic routes

I don't know, but I've been to London Heathrow twice last month and they only had 777's and 767's....sorry

From SFO: one daily 777 and one 744. The 744 could go back to a 777 during winter, but BA has 2 daily 744's to SFO as well.

Actually, I traveled aboard the SFO-LHR 744 flight on August 31. UA 961 departs at 5:30pm and arrives around 11am or 12pm.

The 744 is used to fly to FRA every summer season because the 777 is too small. The same is the case with the LHR route. Last weekend I spend maybe 4 hours alltogether at LHR because of the poor weather and I saw 3 United 744s!

I know his is not exactly what you asked for, but every transatlantic LH flight has a UA flight number as well, and 742 or 744 are on roghly half of these flights (340 the rest).

United does not operate the 747 out of New York to London. From JFK it flies three times daily with the
767-300ER and once daily from Newark with the 777.

From San Francisco and Washington DC, it uses one
747-400 on one of the frequencies because of the
higher demand attributed to summer travel. During
the winter, the aircraft are replaced with 777-200
ER's.

When United first started flying to Europe, it was
using the 747-100, 747-200, and 747-SP to places
that included Heathrow, Paris, Milan, Rome, Madrid,
and Zurich.
