Oneworld Airlines Livery Synchronizing?

Mon Apr 16, 2012 8:57 pm

Hello all,

I noticed that a few airlines of the Oneworld Alliance have changed their liveries to nearly all white with minimal color and lettering. Is this a trend to synchronize the Oneworld Alliance look or just a way to help cut costs?

I have noticed this with:

Finnair, JAL, and Malaysia. (Malaysia entering Oneworld in late 2012).

I believe it when AA goes that direction.

Aren't Iberia going that way too with their new livery?

I'm sure this is just coincidental. Let's hope so anyway. The all-white colour scheme has been a decades-long worldwide trend across all alliance and non-alliance carriers.

I don't see AA, BA, LAN or Royal Jordanian suggesting a livery change.
I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

The MAS A380 illustrated in the initial post is only half the story - the finished colour scheme has a bold blue 'swoosh' at the rear of the aircraft - see http://www.flightstory.net/20120308/...very-malaysia-airlines-a380-video.

So I think you can cross MAS off the oneworld all white list.

On that basis I assume Virgin Australia are planning to join Oneworld

The current trend is taking all-white to a new extreme, where the scheme is little more than single color titles and tail logos with the rest of the plane in white. At least in their previous iteration, the tails were full colors and you often had some contrasting color on the belly or engines.

That's beautiful! I didn't see that.

Thanks for pointing that out. That's what made me ask the question. Now the white seems to be just about everywhere except for the name of the airline and the registration. I do like the JAL 787 in the all white though! It looks great during sunset.

What a beautiful looking livery! I was thinking they'd leave the livery as it is in the above pictures, what a relief though.

Rumor is AA is suppossed to rebrand as well but I doubt it will be anything "white", AA surely will stick to silver.

In an age of continuing Euro-White, I am glad that Air Canada went with "toothpaste green/blue (metallic)". Although hard to detect when at a Canadian airport, when seeing an Air Canada craft against the sea of white, it truly does stand out. Subtle, but uniquely different... sorta like us Canadians! LOL! (yeah, I know...not One World, but still....)
