AC/PW SEA-YYJ/YVR 1960s-70s?

Mon Apr 30, 2012 6:57 pm

In what year did Air Canada withdraw their original SEA-YYJ/YVR service? Did Pacific Western take up these routes immediately following AC's withdrawl...or when did PW start service on SEA-YYJ/YVR?

It was about 1970 or 1971. AC flew Viscounts SEA-YYJ-YVR as you stated. Let's see if we can nail down the exact time, maybe it was 1971.

I'm pretty sure that PW did not start flying into SEA then. That came later.

The last AC flights flew YVR-YYJ-SEA-YYJ-YVR on October 24, 1970, using Viscount aircraft.
PW took over the route on October 25, 1970. The type is noted in the timetable as T-prop, so I am assuming it was with CV640 aircraft. The only other turboprops at PW at this time were the Electra and the Hercules, not likely on this route.
Just because I stopped arguing, doesn't mean I think you are right. It just means I gave up!
