Update On Bi-national Terminal At Tijuana?

Bi-national Terminal At TIJ (by mnik101 Jan 3 2011 in Civil Aviation)?threadid=5025758&searchid=5027835&s=Tijuana+San+Diego#ID5027835

Last thread on this is Jan 2011. Google search turned up little info more recent than that. Has ground been broken on the US terminal? Our State Dept had approved, don't know if or what Mexican approval was needed. Any new info would be appreciated. The project's concept is very interesting to me.

You mean the bridge crossing into the US ?

The proposal is not a new terminal complex for Tijuana, but a bridge over the border, and USCBP facility on the US side in Otay Mesa.

In essence its simply another US-Mexico border crossing, just happens to be across from Tijuana Airport. There are no plans for making the airport dual use.

But the only update I have is from earlier in the year when San Diego County certified some environmental reports, and also approved some land use designations to allow for commercial usage. Last I heard they were still shooting for a 2014 opening.
