AA Announcement May 11 On Their Facbook Page?

Thu May 10, 2012 6:25 pm

On AA's Facebook page, there's a photo of a 787 in AA livery, with the title:

"Tomorrow we’ll give you a sneak peek into the future of American Airlines. What do you think it is? Dream big!"

Some kind of firm 787 order?

I saw this as well. I really wonder what they are going to announce? My guess would be the same as yours, firming of the 787-9 order, might also be firming the 100 737MAX order as well? New livery maybe? Make your guesses

Hopefully a 787 firming! I was on the one at DCA on Monday. It's an amazing machine!

Perhaps all of the above??? I couldn't help but notice in AA's video about the wide body refresh all the planes were silver... Without an AA livery. We pretty much know a new livery is coming based on past comments by management, but perhaps tomorrow we'll get to see it, on a 789 and 738MAX as they announce the firming of the orders. Interesting!

Hopefully this implies that AA's planes will continue to be silver. It would be horrible if AA's new livery was euro-white....

Is that right? I'd hate to see that, unless they are going back to the old 727 orange livery. I think AA's (and AS's for that matter) livery is classic and should not be changed. Doesn't AA have better things to do while in bankruptcy?

What I do hope the most about that is, whatever they decide to do, they keep their orders firm for the A319 and A321 aircraft, both OEO and NEO. I'm really looking forward to see those and I am convinced they will start flying them in a year from now. Confirming 787-9 firm order would be nice too.

Yes they do, but don't forget that twenty years ago when Continental was in BK they changed their corporate livery from the meatball on a gold tail to the globe on a blue tail.

Why would Boeing have AA's tweet then on their account then ? I think this is an order ... plus they say "Dream" , if this wasn't something to do with the Dreamliner I would be surprised.

It is almost certainly to do with the 787s. Their FB page actually shows a picture of a dreamliner beneath the post and they say "dream" big. Then Boeing retweets the same. Seems almost obvious to me that this about the dream liner. But then, stranger things have happened.

Yes it could be both,

That's exactly what happened at Air France back in 1976. They introduced the then new bar code livery just at the time the first Concorde entered revenue service, and it was just the beginning of supersonic travel. Only one Concorde was painted in the old livery, but that particular one was not yet officially in service, it was still running flight tests. By the early 80s all Air France planes were already wearing the bar code tail.

Well, while they are in bankruptcy, I don't think these previously negotiated orders will be costing them much. The money will really be from future earnings. If Boeing thinks that AA will be "good for it" based on their bankruptcy making them healthier, then it probably is a no-brainer to get the order signed. Unless they want Airbus to steal the widebody stuff now, too.

This "restructuring" was to lower their cost plain and simple, as long as AA employees take cuts and work for peanuts - who cares. Let's get our shopping spree on.
After all shiny new planes and a new paint scheme will raise employee morale and put a happy face on these "evil" employees.

The problem is that AA's livery will soon be broke. Bare aluminum doesn't really work when a plane isn't made out of aluminum, and flat grey and even silver doesn't have the same effect.

The message accompanies a picture of a 787 in the AA livery, so it makes sense that it would be a firming up of the 787/737MAX orders. Especially with Boeing's 787 arriving at DFW tomorrow, seems like a prime time for an announcement for order firming.

That's a nice livery except for the "Screaming" billboard font. Cutting off the cheatline gives the livery a disjointed feel. I would thin out the cheatline a little and place the "American" towards the top of the fuselage like the current livery. This would be far better than those b@stard hybrid US liveries idiots keep dreaming up.

I find it interesting that they don't show any of those chrome planes in the AA livery....
leads me to believe that they're going to release a new livery as well as announce a firm 787 and 737MAX order tomorrow (or whenever the supposed announcement is).

Just my 2 cents.

Whatever it is it can't be firming the B787 order, UNLESS the BK judge has given his approval. Has he? I couldn't see it on the AA BK Court thread, but i might have missed it.

Well their order of planes last year was pretty big, they did break with the all Boeing tradition and go with the A320 family.
And they made it for 400+ planes, which is nothing to be laughed at
