I just received my Jepp update with the new terminal on it last week. I don't get through ATL often, but I'm definitely looking forward to heading down to check it out sometime soon.

Is the train going to be going over there yet, or do we have to take a bus?
Just wondering, don't know much about the Plane Train

The train has been operational for weeks but the station from E to get to F had been blocked off. It will be open tomorrow..

There's suppose to be a water salute for the inbound flight. I'll be on deck taking lots of pictures. I'll be sure to post them tomorrow when I can.

How many gates will the new International Terminal have and will they still use any other Terminal for International arrivals?

12. And yes, E will still be used for international flights, as well.

All check in and baggage for international flights will be through the new terminal Landside, even for flights leaving from E. This is going to be very confusing for a lot of people for the first few months. If a flight has a domestic leg first it will still be routed through the old West Landside for ticketing and baggage. I bet a lot of people are going to end up at the wrong side of the airport. There is a free shuttle bus between the two landsides, but its going to be a hassle for those that are late and at the wrong side. Also the traffic on the approach road to the new terminal might be crazy. DL TechOps and DL Cargo are on the same road.

My Flighttrack app is showing DL177 as arriving at gate E7...im not ATL expert and never been there but it seems that this is not the new Intl Terminal gate but on Concourse E?

Anyone who can enlighten me?

All the new road signs that have been covered up for the past few months were uncovered last night. There is like 5 signs within 2 miles saying Domestic this way, International this way. But you know people will still show up at the wrong side anyway lol

That's been bugging the crap out of me, too!! I participated in a simulation exercise of the new terminal a couple of weeks ago, and my "flight" was to/from Shannon, which I thought was so silly for the same reason.

Strangely, it seems that every single international flight (including precleared flights from Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, Ireland, etc.) will be at E or F. There is a single baggage carousel in the new terminal outside the CBP area that I assume will be used for these flights since passengers will not deplane through the lower level international arrivals area. I do wonder, though, whether Air Canada flights that currently use Concourse D (outside the new complex) have moved their check-in facilities to the new terminal.

As a note, there are now two FIS facilities--one in E and one in F. All passengers arriving in F will clear FIS in F. All Atlanta-terminating passengers arriving in either E or F will clear in F. Only connecting passengers arriving in E will clear in E.

Delta.com has not shown any F gates for international ops at ATL yet.

www.atlanta-airport.com has updated gate information for Delta as well as other foreign flag carriers for the F concourse.

Example: LH444 and BA226 both going out of F7 tonight. KLM621 going out of F4.

Delta is scattered between E and F...

I am scheduled to fly to SFO on DL on Friday on an international 767. I wonder if Delta will do any domestic flights out of F like they currently do from time to time from E. Right now, if an international flight comes in at E and its next mission is domestic, the flight departs from E rather than being towed to one of the domestic concourses.

Concourse F is readily accessible from any of the other concourses without any additional screening. You can walk from the east end of E (past gates E14-E17) via a pedestrian tunnel and the train continues from the main E station. I'm pretty sure I read that the gates would be available to use for domestic flights if needed, too.

I assume if someone is going domestic and they check in at that side of the airport they can still proceed through security and at the new terminal and go to there gates on the domestic concourses?

The Varsity is one. Just what I want before I get on a long flight. I think there is also an Asian place plus a couple of others including a Stella Artois bar.

In the brochure previously posted and also other maps, there looks like space reserved for two lounges in F on the mezzanine level. However, DL is the only carrier I have seen announce their new club. Is the other saved for the likes of LH or BA?

1701 is the Habitat for Humanity plane, so I'm guessing it'll be a good photo-op and good publicity to show that one off.

The Chick-Fil-A on C is already open but being operate in temporary space. Only thing served is cold food. Its permanent spot will be where Popeye's was which is already closed and being converted to Chic's standards. Where Wendy's currently is is where Five Guys will be in a few months but Wendy's managed to extend their contract.

As promissed..

Gatehouse for the NRT departure.

Ship 7106

Ship 1701. Inbound frm DUB

DL was fashionably late with the NRT departure. Was scheduled for 1325 but at boarding it was estimated for 1315. I guess they really wanted it to be on time..with all the media present and all. Well, ended up leaving a little past schedule due to some bags that ha to be pulled. Everything else was pretty smooth. All in all a great event.

There is a new parking deck at the corner of Loop Rd and what ever they are calling the access rd this week. That is served by shuttle bus. Many of the off site lots like Parking Spot and Peach Park are shuttling from their lots to the terminal. There is also a high dollar Gold Reserved lot tight in front of the new terminal as well as hourly.

Functional and clean...I really like that because that's all it is. It's no DXB but a very nice terminal. Big win with the high ceilings and a BUNCH of windows. Something T-E lacks.

Only thing I don't like about Chick-Fil-A in airports is that they are closed on Sundays there also. I used to fancy the CVG Chick-Fil-A, but don't connect there anymore. Depending on the positioning, it may severely limit the food options on Sundays. But, I respect Chick-Fil-A's Sunday closing; I just think airport services in their whole should be available during airport operating hours.

Nope, I use the Parking Spot so I checked their website. Tell the driver BEFORE you get on the bus your International. He will send for a second bus to take you there. When you land back in ATL at the International Terminal you have to call the number on your card and ask for a pick-up.

You can not check in for international flights at the old terminal. They do not handle bags for international flights at the old terminal and you can not get a boarding pass to get through security. Now if you have no bags and do a self internet check in I guess you could get through. Can you do the self check in for international?

Interesting, when they did a recap it was said that they didn't know it was that plane so it was a surprise to many when it showed up. But from what I understand is that DUB was chosen because it was a pre-clearance station so they could have the celebrations in the terminal as people deplaned instead of losing some if they terminated in ATL they would have come right out of customs.

Yes, you can. You can even use a paperless boarding pass on DL (and any other airlines that have that capability).

However, one thing to note is that upon return from an int'l flight terminating at ATL, even if you have no checked bags, you will not be able to exit through the domestic terminal. You would not have a boarding pass to let you through the TSA checkpoint following CBP inspections. Everyone terminating in ATL must exit through the International Terminal unless you have a boarding pass for a same-day onward flight.

So if LH and BA operate out of "F" now, is the LH Senator Lounge and BA Terraces Lounge still on "E"? I fly out of ATL on BA in under two weeks and was just curious. Also is there going to be a multi-airline lounge in "F". I had heard a while back that the outfit that operates in BWI was interested in a lounge in "F". Any ideas?

I saw the late afternoon AF flight parked at F on Thurs. I've also noticed KE there around the same time.
