Conviasa A340 In ZRH

Wed May 16, 2012 10:38 am

On an other website I found a picture of YV1004 - the only A340-200 of Conviasa - in Zurich, Switzerland. The picture is dated with 14-may-2012.

As far as I know, Conviasa's fleet is still blacklisted by the European Union: http://ec.europa.eu/transport/air-ban/doc/list_en.pdf See also the A.net Thread about that: Official: Conviasa Banned From EU-Airspace (by desediez Apr 3 2012 in Civil Aviation)

How does it came that this aircraft has landed in Zurich? Yes, Switzerland is not a member of the EU, but Switzerland is a member of EASA, so the ban is also for Switzerland.

Very surprising!

Quoting viasa (Thread starter):

Still, Conviasa is banned to fly over the EU airspace, and for the aircraft to fly literally from anywhere to Switzerland, it must overfly Europe.

Are there any photos available?

Maybe a ferry flight for maintenance?

Flying isn't dangerous. Crashing is what's dangerous!

Maintenance or Government flights can get exemptions.
