Qantas History At DEL (question)

Thu May 17, 2012 5:11 am

Does anyone know when Qantas first began operations at DEL? I suspect that it may have been during the time frame that BOM was being upgraded to handle the new 707s, but not certain. Any information would be appreciated.
Cheers.

While I don't have a date here at work, I may at home and will check tonight, QF served DEL, BOM & CCU for most of the time between the commence of thru Kangaroo Route services in 1949(?) until the B747 entered service and lead to the dropping of many enroute ports. So I expect it was earlier than you supect, they certainly served all 3 Indian ports in the B707 era.

Looks like it started between 1958 & 1963 and QF served BOM in 1958 not in 1963 (BA & AI) so you just might be right!

No DEL in 3/61; one 707 a week each way in 1/62.
