EY And QR Narrowbody Fleets

Sat May 19, 2012 4:58 am

Was just looking at a trip report on QR, and got wondering, do EY and QR have different cabin crew for their widebody and narrow body flights?

Not sure about EY but on QR not really.

QR crew as far as I am aware are trained on the airbus (A320/A330/A340) fleet first then after 6-18months they are then trained on the 777s. This means there is alot of regional flying around the gulf and shorter hops to Europe to train up.

I also believe that on EY and QR the purser/CSD position is only long haul so the short haul pursers are actually CSS and what ever the EY senior is down the back on long-haul flights, but this could be wrong.

How much of both fleets is equipped with PTVs I have always wondered; do EY or QR have many A320s on order?

There seems no definitive answer - nor any hard or fast rules on how they are deployed. Of course they'll always put these better narrow-bodies on longer routes but it isn't to be depended on.

My flights LXR-DOH-LXR (which I believe the OP refers to) features one plane with and outbound without. Certain to say that the plane with PTV was much better flight.

All of EY's A319/A320 fleet have PTVs except A6-EIZ, their original A320.
