B6 Performance In JAX

Sat May 19, 2012 5:39 pm

How is B6 performances on routes to JFK, BOS and especially SJU

any possible new routes like LAX/ LGB. JAX is lacking that route and to the la area and with the AA code share that route might have a chance

Most new B6 destinations and "connecting of the dots" lately are short-to-mid range flights. LAX/LGB - JAX would be a long-haul for the airline and that's something that the airline has had to back down on over time. What's the O&D numbers and demand for such a route? (I can't look that stuff up right now so any stats would be appreciated   )

My guess is B6 would want to do more northern cities to JAX before any cross country flights. The hardest part about making JAX work is you have ATL so close offering a convenient 1 stops to just about anywhere in the US. Delta has a very large following in the Jacksonville area because of that. Didn't JAX have a nonstop to LAX in the past, but it was dropped?

you are correct...DL did fly JAX-LAX a couple years ago, about the time they were starting up LAX-CMH and LAX-RDU but the route didnt work out (not sure why). If DL couldnt sustain the flight with their huge loyalty in the JAX market (I think they are #1 there, or maybe #2 behind SWA, not sure) I doubt B6 could make it work.

DL does that in more than a few Florida markets. With DL often filling in the obvious gaps (e.g., JFK), its tough to compete in Florida with DL. I wish B6 good luck.

I just don't see it. B6 has cut back on transcon capacity vey dramatically. It's just not as profitable as it once was -- oil prices have more than tripled since B6 started its first transcon route.

Could you please clarify what you mean? B6 has been wildly successful in Florida and has had no problem competing with DL (or any other airline for that matter). The amount of capacity that B6 offers on NYC/BOS-Florida dwarfs what DL offers.

Agreed 100% with JetBluefan1. JetBlue made their name with Florida. They have only expanded in that state. NYC and BOS to Florida is bread and butter for this airline and they compete very well with Delta.
