Lufthansa A380 Over Berlin-Schoenefeld

Tue May 22, 2012 11:04 pm

D-AIMI as DLH9981 flying at 4000 ft today, including a few orbits in the vicinity of the airport, even managed to shoot her in the overhead. Anyone know why?

And possibly because D-AIMI is to be named "Berlin".

The reason why D-AIMI was in Berlin-Tegel yesterday was that it was named "Berlin". There was a big ceremony with the mayor of Berlin as well as sightseeing flights over Berlin.
It will forever be a McDonnell Douglas MD 80 , Boeing MD 80 sounds so wrong

Wasn't D-AIMI supposed to be christened at the new BER Berlin-Brandenburg-Intl airport?

I guess they couldn't reschedule the flight or compensate for all the tickets which were bought at the time the airport announced the delay.

If anyone was present: How was TXL able to accomodate the whale? Was it smooth?

No it was supposed to be in TXL from the beginning, The origiinal plan was that the plane would be christened Berlin in May and be the first LH aircraft that would land in BER on June 3rd.

I was there yesterday, together with former member "Thorben". The A380 was parked next to the viewing terrasse under the tower. The same spot LH has parked its 747 last year. It was the 2nd landing of an A380 in TXL. All went smooth.
