Fri Oct 13, 2000 5:22 am

AIR CANADA said on Wednesday it will buy 14 Airbus Industrie jets in an effort to update and increase its fleet of aircraft. The company said in a release that it will buy 12 Airbus A321 jets and two additional A319 aircraft, making it the first Canadian airline to use the 160-seat A321 which has a flight range of 4,200 kilometers (2,600 miles). Air Canada said it will take delivery of the aircraft in October 2001. Although no total dollar figure was released, the company said the A321 has a list price of $60 million, while the smaller A319 has a list price of $45 million.
