UA B752 At RFD

Sun Jun 03, 2012 6:09 pm

Yesterday I was at RFD for the Rockford Air Fest, and in the afternoon a UA B752 took off. Looking at FlightAware it was flying SEA-ORD, but diverted to RFD (it also looks like it filed to divert to MKE). Was this for the show? If so, it was weird as it was parked at the gate and not anywhere near the viewing area. And while I was in line to climb up into the B1 Lancer, I saw the Dreamlifter do a low flyby. Was not expecting that and am kicking myself that I was not able to get a photo of it.

RFD and MKE take most the ORD diversions. It is not unusual to see some UA planes there when there is bad flow control into ORD. I have seen RFD take as many as a dozen diversions before.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

Didn't think about the havoc at ORD when the President comes in. But still, it is weird they came to Rockford when it was hosting the air show and not to MKE. But it was still good to see, that made for four commercial aircraft there then, counting the American Eagle ERJ-145 and the UPS A300 that were on display as well as the Dreamlifter that did a low flyby.
