Wed Jun 06, 2012 11:28 pm

It may be too early to know but wonder if repairs to the bulkhead have begun....

Slightly relating to this, anyone have a link to the youtube video of the incident? It was removed not long after the incident itself unfortunately.

I was last in HND around 4 weeks ago and saw this aircraft through the open hanger doors surrounded by a mass of scaffolding and equipment, so it looked like repairs are well under way.

Wow!! According to the article that goes along with the video, the plane was coming in to land at Haneda and the pilot decided at the last second to do a go-around but the thrust reversers were already deployed. Like the article said, that could have been quite a disaster. Does anyone know if the plane did a go-around or did he have to come to a stop? The video stops just short of the outcome. I would really love to know.

Yeah some time Japanese numbers are funny. You don't want to know how 787 is pronounced

And from the video you can clearly see that the reverser's are deployed when the captain decides to abort landing and do go-around. It does seem to be really wet when all this happened.

I'm sure "seven seven seven" sounds just as funny to them. "7" in Japanese is "nana". It could also be "hachi" but not in this situation. You'll probably find it funny too that both of these words are also Japanese names (though "Hachi" is usually the name of a pet, not a human). So it's like naming someone "Seven" in English - just like on Seinfeld.

It did a go-around.

"Hachi" is eight. The alternate for seven is "shichi."

Nana hachi nana. Nothing weird unless it means something else in Finnish.
