WN Flight Returns To OAK - "Strange Odor."

Tue Jun 12, 2012 8:57 pm

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Officials say a Southwest Airlines plane returned to Oakland International Airport just after takeoff after a smell was reported in the cabin and a flight attendant felt sick.

Apparently they were headed for BUR. Anyone have any more info?

It was a 737-700 with 139 pax on. The FA stated she was Nausious and Light Headed. CA All pax okay. A/C Is out of service being investigated however the Smell has not been located yet. Newscaster in OAK said the CA stated the smell could of been something as simple as coffee being spilled on the burners but for the safety of everyone, decided to return to OAK

A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700, registration N713SW performing flight WN-508 from Oakland,CA to Burbank,CA (USA) with 137 passengers and 5 crew, was climbing through 8000 feet out of Oakland's runway 29 when the crew reported fumes in the cockpit, declared a precautionary emergency and returned to Oakland for a safe landing on runway 29 about 13 minutes after departure.
