DL Mainline Payscale Changes?

Wed Jun 20, 2012 5:23 pm

Currently, DL's payscales are the following (from highest to lowest):

  • 744/777 (all models)
  • 742
  • 787
  • 764ER/A330 (all models)
  • 757 (all models)/763(ER)
  • 739(ER)
  • 73G/738
  • A319/A320
  • MD-90
  • MD-88
  • DC-9/732/733
  • E-195
  • E-190/CR9

However, DL will be acquiring the 717s from AirTran, and from what I heard, the 717 payscale is tentatively planned to be at the same level as the DC-9.

Does anyone know if there are other changes to the payscales being made? Perhaps the removal of the 732 and 733 from the payscales, and the addition of 737 MAX payscales? Perhaps the mainline CR9 payscale might be eliminated as well, considering that DL Connection will be getting more 76-seat jets pending approval.

Quoting 1337Delta764 (Thread starter):

M88 and M90 will be going to the M90 scale. (still lower than the 73N and 320 smh)

CR9/E90 and E95 are still in the contract.

More than likely and 737MAX or 320NEO (gah I *hate* both of those stupid names) will be the current scales as they will hold the same amount of people.

and yes 717 will be DC9 scale.
New airliners.net web site sucks....
Also the mods want to kill free speech and prevent people from saying things like the above. Better say nothing about awesomeness for this place or else!

It's getting closer to the end of the month and as far as I understand it from reading here the new contract goes to vote in a week or so. Does anybody know what the rumor mill is among pilots? Is the majority for or against this new deal and do you guys think it will pass and get radified.

The guys on the pilot message boards (public boards, not DALPA boards) didn't seem to happy with it. That only represents a very small cross section of the pilot group however. Most of the guys I know at the company aren't happy about the idea of giving up more scope.

End result? Don't know til the voting is over. I'm pretty sure I know what I would do if I worked for DAL.

They're already flying both a/c though so how does that work? Very recent; like within the past 3 months or so.

I've been asking all of my pilots during my trips and the majority are voting YES.

The only reason this is most likely an inaccurate representation is there is a lot of division within the pilot's group. Most of the narrowbody pilots don't like it because it gives up scope on large RJ's while a lot of the widebody pilots are in favor of it given the relatively substantial pay raise. The guys in the middle - 757, 767 - will most likely be the swing votes on whether it's approved or not.

Several airlines do this, oddly. Even though you can fly all types, they still pay differently based on what type you are *actually* flying. Delta [currently] does this with MD88 and MD90, COdbaUA does it within the 737's: 737-500 and 737-700 are paid on a lower scale than 737-800 and 737-900. Southwest does it with the 737-800, versus the other types. SkyWest has 3 separate CRJ scales for the 200, 700, and 900. The list goes on.... it's more common than you'd think.
