Portugal used a Romavia BAe 146 to transport them to matches:

Lufthansa is flying the German team. For the first flight FRA-GDN they used their new 747-8i. All other flights are also operated by LH but I haven't figured out which plane type they are using.

The Irish team flew out to their training base in Italy before the tournament on Cello Aviations BAE 146 G-RAJJ, I presume they used the same aircraft during the tournament & for the return journey.

Are the planes kept in Poland/Ukraine for exclusive use by the teams, or flown back home to do other charter work?

For example, the England team have had to buy from Krakov to the Ukraine for each of their games, so the plane is needed a day before the game then on the day itself, then isn't needed for 3 days.

The Danish team had SAS MD87 (OY-KHU) "Ravn Viking" stationed with them. The text: ”Denmark - UEFA EURO 2012 National Team” was on the side.

I found out all LH flight have flight numbers 342 and 343 (though not equipment type  ). They were all operated by B737-300 or B737-500, except for the first flight.

These are the flights from FRA to GDN and back (mostly without the team):

and these the flights from GDN to Ukraine and back:

Sweden used this plane.
http://capishe.se/nyhet/svenska-fotbollslandslaget-far-nytt-flygplan/

At least painted for them. this is the second version of Swedish football planes, the previous looked better in my humble opinion. Scroll down on the same site and you can compare for yourselves.

Think its telling that Denmark use SK while Sweden doesnt. Sweden use Malmö Aviation...

A little overkill for a soccer team, but nice one anyways.
Reminds me that one of the first flights of the LH A380 was FRA-JNB for the FIFA 2010 with the german soccer team too.

I wonder; how much space does a soccer team need to travel from one match to the other. There are about 20 players + coaches + team support. What's the minimum size an aircraft needs to be for that? I image the Fokker 70/100 comes close.

You're forgetting the VIPs (or people who think they are VIPs) and reporters. Moreover they have gear to transport as well.

The players wives have their own transport and the poor girls had to wait such a long time for DNK ATC to clear them for take-off n the flight to GDN.

Even the team had to wait 30 minutes, as Schweini claimed in an interview. What a nightmare..... ( I once waited 6 1/2 hours at JFK.)
