ANA Cargo Vs Nippon Cargo Airlines

Sat Jun 23, 2012 12:00 am

So I looked and I couldn't find really much, but what is the differences between Nippon Cargo Airlines ( KZ ) and ANA Cargo (Apparently under NH ) ? I know that KZ is partially owned by NH but who else is involved with KZ? What routes do both of these fly? When will KZ take the 748F?

Thanks, Z

Google is your friend....

In November 1970, three other companies, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Yamashita-Shinnihon Steamship, and All Nippon Airways decided to undertake a separate initiative to establish their own international cargo airline. Two years later, in November 1972, they agreed to establish Nippon International Cargo Airlines.

Today the shipping line Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) is the primary owner of NCA.

NH: intra-Asia only
KZ: intra-Asia (NRT, KIX, ICN, PVG, TPE, HKG, SIN, BKK), North America (ANC, ORD, JFK, SFO, LAX) and Europe (AMS, MXP)

ANA no longer has a stake in Nippon Cargo. They are independent from each other. Until a few years ago, ANA did do some 744 maintenance but NCA either does this in-house or outsourced overseas.

ANA Cargo did have a route to the US via ANC but I think they dropped it around 2008.

Exactly. Actually, the relationship between NH and KZ became really cold after the break up. Many ex KZ employees switched to NH afterwards and nowadays the two companies are completely separated.

Strange thing i saw was that NCA quit FRA in 2009, but i can regularly see them there. Might be that FRA is served by both, a NH777 and a NH787 daily and cargo is doing quite well, so i guess it's just charter buzz?
