Swift Air Files For Ch.11

Fri Jun 29, 2012 5:35 am

http://www.mvariety.com/cnmi/cnmi-ne...swift-air-files-for-chapter-11.php

Looks like Swift Air has gotten itself into a hole with the Saipan Air flying that they were supposed to start!

Saipan Air has postponed it's inaugural flight, due to Swift Air not being able to deliver their 757s!

Lazy journalism, the photo in the article is of the Spanish Swift Air, while it is the Phoenix based Swift Air LLC that is the relevant Swift Air: http://www.swiftair.net/

That is correct, it is the Swift Air based in the US, should have clarified that! They currently operate a few 737s and supposedly have 757s on property as well!

Wasn't Swift Air one of Direct Air's public charter suppliers?

Indeed, and if I am not mistaken they are owned by the same parent company!

I think Swift owner invested in Direct Air. Someone tapped the escrow accounts of Direct Air, when bills came due ZERO money in the bank. Last I heard Officials (founders) of Direct Air could not be found.

They have a 762 parked on their ramp fairly often at PHX.

It was bound to come to this for them. My guess is poor management. I recall them running into some issues with the FAA over maintenance/mechanics. Hopefully this gives them the opportunity to regroup and get it together.

I believe so. The Blackhawks will have to find someone else next year.

I believe they were only flying 4 NHL teams, Avalanche, Blackhawks, Capitals & Predators.
Also have been flying Roger Waters on his latest tour.

I guess it's back to UA being "proud to fly the Blackhawks".
