BA Starts Culling Some Ex-BMI Domestic Flights

Mon Jul 02, 2012 5:28 pm

So BA have integrated BMI domestic flights and heralded some routes being based out of T1 at LHR?

Only days after making a schedule change onto BA 8041 EDI-LHR departing 0855 on the 30th November.. BA have now cancelled this flight (for 30th Nov at the very least).

Looks like they are starting to thin out some for the old BMI Domestic options.... wonder what will happen to this particular slot....!?!? Will it be one that will have to go to Virgin or BMI regional? Or will it be used for more BA routes internationally?

They have also reduced the LHR-BHD service to 4 rotations a day rather than 8 with 2 of them being operated by BA and two being operated by BMI.

Six daily with the old BFS Shuttle flight numbers, all operated by BA.

I'm not sure thats right - for the winter season ba.com and baa.com are showing 6 or 7 rotations per day depending on the day of the week - though I guess if its a recent decision to reduce the rotations the websites might be out of date.

Any word on the flights to EVN? Do they intend to cut those?

They did, but I transferred onto the 0855 ex-BMI option only last Wednesday, because of terminal changes meaning I had a tight T5-T1 connection transfer. Instead of 1hr 40 connection cross-terminal, it meant I could have an almost 3 hour T1 connection.

I've now got a 4 hour cross-terminal connection! Think I'll just have to partake in more alcohol and snacks in the BA Lounge!!

Yes, fate of ex-B-Med routes is interesting. Almost all were a monopoly, so probably high yield. And some destinations controversial considering British foreign policy. In other words, presumably the merger means BA are back in Tehran?
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

BA 159 LHR-EVN-IKA dep LHR at 18:30
BA 158 IKA-EVN-KHR arr LHR at 12:15 next day

Freetown B767-300 operation BA137/136 days 1,3,6
Baku A321 operation BA145/144 daily, extends to ALA days 2,4,6
Amman A321 operation BA147/146 daily
Beirut A321 operation BA149/148 daily
Yerevan/Tehran A321 operation BA159/158 daily

...and then the mid-haul A321s might just appear in one or two other points on the network in place of current B767 or B777 operations.

Wow...CAI has gone from a 744 to a A321 in a relatively short space of time.

Mikey BA154/155 still shows a 744 in booking engine through november.

Think the 321 is the current BD rotation when converted to BA (AOC)
.
So should be two flights per day.

That said the Cairo slots are on the transfer list so double daily may be short lived.

If BA start its own operation to AMM it will have to drop the RJ code share... And I understand that AMM won't have any tag ons. So does the A321 sit the whole night in AMM?

That's a relief, I was surprised that traffic had dropped off that much.

I know there's a rumour about TLV but not CAI.

Currently all 10 bmi flights remain on the ground overnight at AMM maximising connection opportunities at LHR.
