Gate Swaps At SFO T1?

Sun Jul 08, 2012 12:19 pm

I noticed that US is now operating out of the former WN gates at T1, and that WN now has all of the rontunda with Gates 26-30.
Was this a simple swap with WN, or is WN planning on increasing service. If I'm not mistaken WN has one extra gate now.

WN will have 8 gates total up from 5 I think . With WN taking over FL service to MKE BWI ATL.
Also last time I was in SFO the rumor was BUR,HOU and ONT service was coming.
Also with the crappy atc delays the xtra gates help smooth out the delayed operation for the station.

WN has always seemed to have enough gates for SFO ATC delays, primarily because the delays slow the operation down so much that it's unusual to have a large number of aircraft coming in at the same time even during bad weather.

Agreed. It will give those who live in the Inland Empire and the Valley who prefer not having to drive to LAX or SNA to go to SFO and it will give frequent SFO fliers another option over those old CRJs they use on SFO-ONT/BUR.
It will be very interesting to see if this does happen, how UA will respond, upgauge their flights to CR7s? Doubt it!

On a side note, with the announcement of the new ATC , there will be a sterile connector between T1 and T2.
