Airbus Airliner Of The Future

Mon Jul 09, 2012 10:09 am

Did a search and found nothing. So here is a video of Airbus' concept airliner of the future:

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/pop-up-digi...into-the-future-of-air-travel.html

Am not sure of the advantage of a trans[parent cabin roof when you are crusising at FL350 ab ove the weather.

I believe they had a jet with a glass roof.

The concepts shown there will almost certainly not make it into production, even in 2050. Think of this like a concept car, something 'far out' that grabs attention and serves as a guideline perhaps, but never intended for production.

Don't worry. It will look something along the lines of an A330 once it's ready for production.
and with that..cabin crew, seats for landing please.

I do not expect any new airliner to have the engines below the body as it looks like on the movie - too much ground noise and it sucks in too much of crap from the runways. So mount the engines somewhere else, emulate the glass windows by some plastic screens that are coupled to outsided cameras, and you are where you are....

I think some would be freaked out by a transparent fuselage -- I'd love it -- but I can see folks feeling less secure seeing all that landscape cruising by 35,000 ft below. And what happens in turbulence? I laughed when I saw pitch of the seats. Those poor passengers will be as cramped then as we are today!

fun concept though and I love the shape of the plane.

I have dreamed of the 747 hunch being transparent before, and an SF author too (Dan Simmons in Carrion Comfort, the plane belonging to a billionaire) but I think that it's unnecessary now. Cameras can get the images, including the most interesting ones (below !), and in a few years it will be easy to cover the cabin of the plane with a screen.

Not sure if I like this design, It looks odd to me, But the glass fuselage is an interesting concept, especially for a first class offering.

I'd like to think of it as an observation deck for all of the passengers. I rarely travel first..... but if this were available to all pax, I think that I'd probably spend as much time as possible up there. 35,000+ feet up with a view....... eeee-yikes........

How about an open air balcony? Passengers can enjoy the crisp cool air at 35,000 ft.

The exhaust nozzles are above the wing, though. IMHO, that will already eliminate a fair share of ground noise (most of the exhaust flow noise).
WARNING! The post above should be taken with a grain of salt! Furthermore, it may be slightly biased towards A.

I did not think, that this was a widebody, but that just makes this design, so much better.

I didn't think F passengers cared about looking out, considering the current F designs making it almost impossible.

Well first of all its at the front of the plane and last time I remember airlines have their first class cabins at the front? no? Also if you think about it this could be something innovative that an airline can offer to first passengers to stay competitive against other airlines, lets say offering a view of the world while fine dining at 35000 feet, see sunsets and sunrises, etc. But I guess my idea is not good enough for you F flyers. O well, still my opinion.

There is also a iPad app with the same thing, it's called "future by airbus" or "airbus future" etc.
