Next New Domestic Routes From PDX?

Mon Jul 09, 2012 11:28 pm

Recently at PDX we have seen the addition of:

PDX-DCA
PDX-LIH
PDX-AUS
PDX-COS
PDX-SBA
PDX-PSC
PDX-YKM
PDX-Montana routes

What new domestic routes or service additions could we see next from PDX?

Was thinking:

PDX-STL
PDX-MIA
or
PDX-MCO

PDX-AUS

No PDX-AUS that I'm aware of. Is WN flying that? I know AS isn't, but could be a possibility. I thought AS might start PDX-MIA until they moved MIA to FLL.

WN is flying PDX-AUS through the summer. I think PDX-STL would be a good WN or AS route. I could see PDX-MCO on AS or B6. MIA is possible on AA though it seems AA is not concerned with trying to do anything out of pdx beyond DFW. Other cities that eventually could be there would be MSY,PIT, and maybe Mesa/PHX.

I would have agreed with this as well, esp when DL was starting to add a bit of capacity/service to STL. If DL were to build up STL a bit, then a code share could be a possibility.

I could see this only as a code share with DL. MCO I would think would be a bit of a low yield route.

Can I have a mojito on this flight?

I just want a PDX-TUS route....wishful thinking, given that the last time Horizon flew it, there were never more than 15 people on the plane.

Remember that AS did try PDX-MCO and discontinued it.

Will AS resume the short-lived PDX-PVR and PDX-SJD routes?

I don't think we'll see AS attempt nonstop PDX-Mexico flights, or until the economy improves substantially to warrant adding nonstop to Mexico beach resorts. If anything, they could do a thru flight to SJD & GDL via SJC.

It would be great to see AS upgauge PDX-BUR/ONT to mainline from those problematic CR7s.
