VS A340 LHR-SEA July 14th

Sat Jul 14, 2012 10:53 pm

Hi all,

I saw a VX A340 on the way into SEA about two hours ago. Using Flight Aware, I confirmed it, that 9905 was from LHR.

I'm pretty certain it was a charter, and looking at the schedule for the Seattle Sounders FC, I think this was a charter for Chelsea FC, who are scheduled to play the Sounders on 18th July.

Can anyone confirm the purpose of this flight today?

Thanks,

VS A340 LHR-SEA July 14th

I was JUST about to ask the same question!
Can anyone confirm this is Chelsea? Also, why use an A343? An A333 seems like plenty of legs for the team, are they highly utilized in VS's schedule right now?

Thanks!

I think you mean VS A340 since VX does not have any A340s. You may want to change the title to VS as well.

I just saw this flying out over Kent (Washington) heading north. Wondered when I missed VS flying to SEA. This explains it. Flightaware shows it enroute YVR.

Correct. Charter as the VS9905. Flew to YVR as the 905P to operate the YVR-LHR flight as usual. The reasons being an A343 are:

1. To ops the YVR-LHR as normal
2. Thats what the charterer wanted in terms of capacity
3. A333's are busy doing other things; DEL//JFK (and MCO for the J-less A333)

So what happened to the plane that operated LHR-YVR? Or was this leg cancelled?

Thanks! Sorry about the VS vs. VX...I wasn't sure how to change the title, but I see one of the moderators did anyhow.

So was it the charter for Chelsea FC that I saw?

That would be my question as well. It sounds like a great plan - right up until you try to figure out what happened to the other leg. Unless, of course, it had already been zeroed out in the system well ahead of time.

This led to a question in my mind, if the flight had "zeroed out", A) What does this mean and B) Where do they have spare aircraft for the return trip?
Rush for ever; Yankees all the way!!
