764 Update
3063 is scheduled to ferry HKG-HNL 7/21 and it appears shes's still in Pacific configuration from seat maps and duration at HKG. It looks like 3064 will be the next 764 into HKG for maintenance as it arrives HNL 7/20 and doesn't depart 7/20 or 7/21.

Some small news - Gogo extended its WiFi contract with United covering the 13 p.s. aircraft.

Gogo in early 2013 will upgrade the aircraft as well to its new ATG-4 standard that provides triple the bandwidth of the current solution.

Appears that YX (Republic, I kind of dislike that they took Midwest's Code) will start flying the Q400's on 8/1 out of DEN to several statioins. The flights are already on united.com.

Not sure which aircraft they are using yet.

3612 is still flying revenue flights and did not stop flying 7/17 as stated by AirWays mag

73G
3707, after 3.5 weeks, is sked for revenue service from MCO tomorrow with E+
3706 looks to be next one in E+ MCO mod 7/23

772
3004 to exit HKG 7/23 HKG time
3007 is in HKG for E+ and should exit 7/25
3010 would be next into HKG if 3007 is on-time and sked for 117/23 EWR-HKG doesn't change

739 #3437 is set to ferry VCV-IAH this morning and return to revenue service tomorrow. This aircraft had hail repair at HOU and repainting at VCV from DFW hail storm April 3, 2012.

73G #3707 will try again today to re-enter revenue service. Was sked yesterday, but now will fly out of MCO today with E+. #3706 should enter E+ mod today at MCO.

772 #3009 will exit HKG with E+ 7/25 HKG time. #3010 is in HKG mod, but looks like it will take an extra day to complete as 117/25 EWR-HKG has an already converted aircraft scheduled. 117/26 shows #3019, which should be the next one in. Maybe the typhoon at HKG has impacted the mod line.

I was on 588 yesterday from EWR to AUS and on 458UA aka 4258. I am pretty confident it has the new bins. The room in the overheads for roller bags was really good, better than any sUA Airbus plane I have flown recently.

This plane also appeared to have nice new seat coverings. The leather seats were very good and in great shape.

Is sUA still installing the leather seats?

73G

This plane also appeared to have nice new seat coverings. The leather seats were very good and in great shape.

Is sUA still installing the leather seats?

Not that I know of....458 is an exTed aircraft and all of those were retrofitted with leather seats when they were converted back to mainline.

The wait is torture! There are sUA 33/46 777-200's converted to the 3 class configuration leaving 13 yet to be reconfigured. Are all 13 becoming 3 classes? Will they make the end of 2012 deadline for completion? There is a huge difference between old and new and you can still get the old bird on SFO to FRA!

Also, 9 out of 12 767-400's (sCO) are fitted in 2 class w the CO lie flats, when will these last 3 very important 767's be done? When they are, it is a spectacular interior and the best looking 767. Paying $6,600 from EWR to GRU, asking ahead of time if it's the NEW flat bed business to be sure then boarding and getting blue chair is infuriating! When will United finish those last 3?

I hope this will help
Just looking at it logically, things should start moving quicker by the end of the year.

There are now 6 widebodies in mod or maintenance (HKG or PEK) plus some maintenace at US bases like SFO.
- Three 763ERs in 2 class lie-flat mod (10 to go after the 3 are completed) to be completed by end of year
- One 764 in mod/MX Right now the Pacifics ones have been going through maintenance, but remaining 3 lie-flat retrofits should follow with a completion date near the end of the year.
- One rotating PMCO 772 in E mod (fleet could be completed by 8/9/12)
- One PMUA772 in IPTE mod (12 to go)
- One 744 in heavy Maintenance.

Between Thanksgiving and the end the year,
- the 763s should be complete,
- the 764s should be complete
- the PMCO 772s E+ will be complete (August).

The only other widebodies remaining for mod would be PMUA772s (last one done required 10 weeks)
- 12 remaining (not including 2991/N791UA is in PEK now)
- 3 of 12 will go to Pacific configuration
-Who knows if IPTE or Pacific will be first in?

Of course there could be routine heavy maintenance on widebodies that may require pulling a rotating unit over a period of time
There will probably be several paint lines for the below remaining a widebodies needing paint.
14 763ERs
6 772s
14 744s.

So, going off-season they may run several paint lines and I'm guessing one to three PMUA 772 IPTE mod lines.

As far as paint lines, to complete 34 widebodies @ 2weeks per aircraft
One line would take about 68 weeks to complete
Two lines would take about 34 weeks
Three lines would take about 23 weeks
Four lines would take about 17 weeks
Five lines would take about 14 weeks

No. They will turn 3 into essentially the domestic cattle car configuration with a revised F class.

2012 deadline?

No IPTE should be complete by April 2013. I believe in this weeks earnings call they termed it as "late first quarter"

I was on 588 yesterday from EWR to AUS and on 458UA aka 4258. I am pretty confident it has the new bins.

I can 100% confirm 458UA is in the new bins. I was on 884 last night in another A320 and it had the old bins.

First, thank you, I think I have a better idea now! I am not at all familiar how these things get done. I just keep my eye on this thread to watch the numbers turn over after interior mods are complete. I schedule my flights based on if the ac has new BF or BF and Global First. I hate to reveal my ignorance but what does IPTE stand for (or mean)? And when you use the word "Pacific" aside from the ocean, what does that mean in terms of configuration AND LAST

For LAXintl, what are the "cattle car" 777's used for and do they get E+? What is UA revising in F?

Thanks all,

The current plan is a 1st quarter 2013...2013 has been the plan since before the merger.

The high density/cattle car 777's are used on mainland-Hawaii and Guam to Hawaii/Japan. All mainline aircraft will have Y+... the new F class on the Pacific 777's has been reported as being the J class recliner seats like you can find on PS or non-reconfigured 777's...2*2*2 recovered in leather.

772 #3010 just exited HKG with E+ (7/28 HKG time). #3019 is in HKG mod with an estimated exit of 7/30. Next one in should be #3007 sked for 117/28 EWR-HKG.

What about the other rumored changes:

Pacific configuration 764s getting converted to International Lie flat.

Reconfiguring one current three class 763 into the new two class international lie flat ala the domestic 763s.

The obvious choice of three class 763s to be reconfigured to international two class would be N663UA, which is a 1998 build. All the other three class 763s are 1991-1993 builds. The domestic 763s being reconfigured to two class international are all 1998-2001 builds.

FYI:

Quoting qfatwa (Reply 24):
Airways magazine weekly update notes that UA 757 N532UA has retired - last flight 20 July - in old livery and was premium service aircraft.

According to United.com, N532UA is still flying. Flew 286/28 July. Not sure if the removal was planned before UA announced it would add more spare aircraft. This happened with a 735 last week.

Quoting qfatwa (Reply 24):
739 (42/54 = 77.8%) : Ships 0401-0442 [42],

There are now 55 739s with the addition of N34455 - 42/55 = 76.4%

Quoting qfatwa (Reply 24):
COLGAN - to be removed from operations due to Pinnacle Chap 11.
Dash 8-400 (23/23) COMPLETED.
Saab 340B (2/16) 350CJ, 362PX

Checked these out on FlightAware and United.com. Currently this is what I found:
Saabs are not flying
Q400s shown operating: 17 of 23. Those Flight Aware shows no flights: 187WQ, 195WQ, 203WQ, 204WQ, 336NG, 338NG
Not sure what will happen next.

Pacific configuration 764s getting converted to International Lie flat.

This change, and the 3 additional domestic 777s, make so much sense, also there's no reason why EWR-HNL or IAD-HNL couldn't operate with a International configured 764. My Wife and I flew EWR-HNL in an international 764 in 2008, the Pacific configuration 764s operating EWR-HNL are something new.

#3019 exited HKG flight 116/30 HKG time. Seat map shows non-E+, but aircraft was in mod for almost 3 days. Will continue to monitor seat maps for this aircraft.

N459UA exited LCQ 7/29 - assumed to have New Overhead bins. Can someone confirm?
N463UA ferried CLE-LCQ 7/29. Note that 463 is not a former TED aircraft and to date all three new bin aircraft have been ex-Ted aircraft.
N493UA sked to exit ORD after 4+ days in Maintenance. Aircrfaft already has new bins from a previous mod visit.

United.com has one day of history, current day and two days in advance.
FlightAware does not give you the tail number of a specific flight unless you put the tail number into the search box. If you use the tail number it will give past history and current/future information that the carriers provide. However, it's best to cross reference it against United.com as sometimes assignments change and FlightAware doesn't always show the update.

Just saw a pic of N674UA with winglets.
Is it the first 2-classes-domestic-turns-international-new-config.ed ?
What are the other frames in the hangar?
Let's just blame it on yields.

I don't ever fly those routes but I am one of the few who like those sUA recliners. They recline so far back I can sleep well in them where you really can't in a regular domestic F seat. Also they are ergonomic vs sCO BF recliners. So if they aren't going to be lie-flats, they are second best. But what about IFE?

Last, they should have thousands of the p.s style biz recliners, what do they plan to do with them all?

If I was CEO, since no United Clubs have recliners like so many other airlines do, I'd put 6 leather covered ones in at least intl First United Clubs. If you have a 4 hour layover, they are very welcome. Even VARIG had sleeper recliners in their F lounges 10 years ago!

Republic have started Q400 out of Denver - expect 4 ex Lynx aircraft there to start - N502/707/508/510LX - reported that N507LX is in UA livery.

Will return former Colgan Q400 to totals [28] in anticipation of resumption of flying.

The former Expressjet Continental branded aircraft have added rebrands recently. Still 10 outstanding:

N502/707/508/510LX - reported that N507LX is in UA livery.

Correct. Only 507LX is in the UAX livery. 510 is still all white.

Is 507 in the Globe livery?
Do you know what livery 502 and 508 have?

The former Expressjet Continental branded aircraft have added rebrands recently. Still 10 outstanding:
N48901
N16976
N16987
N13989
N14993
N21537
N11539
N12540
N14543
N26545
The lapse of time suggests that these should be completed - anyone in HOU or EWR - would be great if you sight any of these and can confirm branding.

Ask and l shall receive! .............A photo confirms N11539 in UNITED Express titles - nine to go!

It looks like N675UA (ghetto bird) is ferrying today HNL-HNL-HKG for 2 class upgrade. I don't see a returning aircraft yet, but the first of three to arrive in HKG on 6/17 is N671UA.

We also should be expecting 3064 to return from HKG maintenance and probably re replaced by the final Pacific 764 that has not had a recent HKG maintenance visit. The other option would be an old international configured 764 due to get lie flat.

Additionally, the PMCO 772 E+ program should be complete in a couple of days, probably meaning a ferry back to the States. I believe the 772 will provide for EWR-MUC service at least for a while.

772 #3011 ferried HKG-EWR and is scheduled Flight 89/11Aug with E+. 772 E+ conversion fleet is completed.

763 N671UA is ferrying HKG-DEN or ORD with 2 class conversion.

763 there is another ferry scheduled HNL-HKG 8/11 - Not sure of the aircraft number. Flight 6865/11Aug. Maybe N668UA is nearing completion at HKG.
