Huh? I honestly didnt make that connection at all. The blue is quite a bit different, the bird logo is the one they've used for quite a while now, the awkward circle element is the only thing removed. Here's their old livery for reference:

It's a lovely evolution, I think.

Nice livery a proffessional looking logo would complete it, I wish Ariana had this instead of their pathetic bland scheme.

Change the shade of blue a few notches darker and it's virtually identical to AR's old tail livery.

Looks good! I did like the "old" Xiamen livery though, so I don't think the change is necesarilly a huge improvement. But it'll look good when their 787 lands in LAX

An identical copy in my opinion.

The tail was what I was referring to and yes the 3rd one. At a glance it looks nearly identical if not for the shade of blue. Certainly a bland tail logo and worse than the previous livery imho which had a nice Chinese feel about it, but this one just looks totally generic.

Oh, please. It's just a crane.

Lufthansa also has a crane on their tail, and they've been around longer than AR and MF, so are the two younger airlines both "copying" Lufthansa?

There's only so many ways you can create a graphic of a crane/swallow, and even with that lack of differentiation the cranes look different enough IMO.

At a glance, most airplanes look similar.. most bird logos look similar..

Not knowing anything about Xiamen other than it's a city and area renowned for stone masonry, the airline's livery doesn't connect to my perception in any way. Just another generic Cathay airline logo IMHO.

I think the new livery looks quite smart. I have flown domestic first class with them a few times. They are good airline. Their service is much better than CZ in my experience.

I am always amused to see people trying to be smart jumping to conclusion without any eduational background imformation. The logo on the tails of Xiamen Airlines is an EGRET, popularly seen on Xiamen island. The idea of an egret is flying high...

Cathay Pacific Airways' logo is not a BIRD, it is a BRUSH print.

It is a symbol of both. There is a reason the stroke is in the shape that it is; it was designed to also conjure an image of a stylized bird in addition to a calligraphy stroke.

Obviously I wasn't being clear enough; this was a reference to Cathay as another name for China (and it's various airlines).

BTW, CX's logo and livery is one of my personal favourites.

Massively better than the crappy scheme they had before.

I am waiting for Air China now to finally introduce a scheme that fits this century. They are the only airline left still flying in a dull communist era paintscheme - and worse, they are the flagcarrier and not a backrow operator.
