LOT And The 787's - When?

Sat Jul 21, 2012 10:52 am

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to throw this out to all the civil aviation people worldwide and hope someone can help,

In Feb of 2013 I will be flying from PEK to WAW with LOT Polish Airlines on route to LHR, at the moment it is showing a 763 so my question is as follows;

According to both Boeing and LOT the airline will take two 787's in November of this year and 3 more by the Feb of 2013, how realistic are theses dates? as the month of Aug shows to be very slow in delivering 787's to customers.

I have contacted both Boeing and LOT and heard nothing back

many thanks

Vietnam time..

As far as I know the first 787 for LO is going through postproduction reworks and the second one is almost done with no need for post production reworking. This makes me to conclude that after pushing the delivery date for over 4 years Boeing will indeed deliver them before the end of 2012. It will probably take a month for LO to do some test runs, but I would say you will fly 787 to WAW.

As frustrating as it is, I'd say it's unlikely LO would be prepared to say one way or the other... if they say no the 787 won't be in service in time you might choose another carrier... on the other hand if they say it will be ready and it isn't they could be said to have promised something and not delivered it, and therefore might be required to refund the ticket price.

LO announced that its first 787 flights will be to ORD, starting in January 2013. If they only have a couple in service, I'm assuming they'll try to keep their promise and have the 787s on the WAW-ORD flights, though the PEK flight is a bit of prestige route for LO. So who knows, maybe you'll fly on the 787, but I wouldn't bet on it.
