True Identity Of ANA 787 JA804A?

Wed Jul 25, 2012 3:41 am

Currently Boeing 787 JA804A (L/N 9) is in service with ANA

However, here is JA804A, today:

So, is the JA804A in service with ANA really the 9th 787 built? I would say no, and the frame shot today is the 9th built, and the "other" JA804A is a later build.

Thoughts?

I do not know the answer, but the ICAO-24 of the in-service JA804A is 86CED2 . The Boeing test flights were BOE102 which would appear to lend credence to the theory that the in-service JA804A is indeed ZA102 (former N1006F) 34486 / 9. Could the airframe you captured at KPAE be 34485 / 7 ?

LN9 was delivered in January, so it's not the one in storage at KPAE.

I flew on JA804A in April and it wasn't the plane photographed in Seattle! This plane must have had the registration applied some time ago and then the sequence was changed. Be interested to know which l/n this is.

If I remember correctly, Boeing had painted the same reg on two different aircraft by mistake. I think the same happen with the 748Fs.

LN7 | 34485 is being prepared for delivery as JA803A, so that is not her.

I'm guessing she's LN11-LN16.

I expect it wasn't a mistake, but that LN9 proved to be in a better position to deliver than whatever this frame is, so JA804A was reassigned to LN9 and just has not been removed from this frame.

The JA804A in service is LN9, the one in storage is LN11.

I guess, but the point I was trying to make is that it could have been:

That plane was painted long ago and will probably get a new reg on it when all the rework is complete. The line number is usually taped on the nose somewhere for the ones in storage.

The reason I do not think it is a later frame is the amount of rework joining sections 47 and 48. It looks the same as:
