Flybe's Plans At EMA, Including 2x E75s In 2013

Fri Jul 27, 2012 7:54 am

BE will add three new winter routes from EMA to fill the void left by WW. These have been mentioned before but no dates were then known.

The airline will launch daily services to AMS (from 28th Oct), twice-daily flights to CDG (from 28th Oct), and 3x weekly to JER (from 29th Oct).

As you probably already know, BE increased EMA-BHD, which coexisted with WW's EMA-BFS service, from 2x per-weekday to 4x per-weekday, with 50% less on Saturday and Sunday.

AMS will be increased to 2x daily from the summer of 2013, with this period seeing two E75s placed at EMA.

Good to hear more about these developments. I'll have to fly the E75!  Wink

Good news. Any code-share with AF to CDG (as they are code-sharing on several other France-UK routes) ?

I wonder whether EDI and GLA will be operated by BE. Hmm!

Both BHX-AMS and EMA-AMS were successfully served by WW before, with B733/735.

Successfully served? In what respect? And if you say financially, what is your source?

Gkirk - not yet available for booking or indeed in their pull-down menu. Somewhat odd when routes from end Oct are yet not those announced to start in Sep. Ya numpty.  Smile

How weird: when I double-checked on my phone they didn't appear, but now I've checked their site using my laptop and they're there.

Just so you know; WW flew EMA-BHD too. So it makes sense for Flybe to go there too.

I know they did - I flew it - and they replaced FR on EMA-BHD.

How will BE serve the routes announced thus far? Q400s based at EMA or W-rotations from other bases?

BHD/EDI/GLA-EMA is/are to be operated by BHD/EDI/GLA based aircraft, and JER-EMA will be operated by a JER based aircraft this winter as well

This winter the single based EMA aircraft will be fully occupied with CDG and AMS but the move to 2 based aircraft next Summer should mean extra flights and/or some existing flights moved onto EMA based aircraft

No, but it would surely make sense to get one organised

Well, if an airline keeps servicing routes for years, you can expect those routes to be profitable. Otherwise the airine is run by a group of lunatics.

Your expectation may be true if it applied to, say, FR, but not necessarily every other airline despite the illogicality that may imply. Indeed, it is widely known bmibaby has always been a basket case financially yet it 'survived' for 10 years. Still, we cannot tell whether its AMS services were profitable or not, so we can but guess.
