LH's D-ABYC Still Without A Name?

Mon Jul 30, 2012 9:42 am

Lufthansa's second B748 (D-ABYC) has been flying the FRA-IAD run for some days and I was just wondering if she already carries a name or not - thanks for any update someone might have.
Cheers, Markus

Just saw it yesterday and it still doesn't have a name.

I'm on that route next Tuesday to IAD, if I am on D-ABYC, I will post.

P.S. I am really excited about these flights. My first 748 and my first A380 on the way back from IAH.

This is quite usual, well certainly for the Airbus fleet. They seem to be in service for a good few months before they get a name added.

It is different, the A380 got their names right away (even removed names from the 744's), D-ABYA got its name pretty quickly as well, but D-ABYC has to wait as it looks like.

Many short haul Airbus' still fly around without names. I guess it is not that important anymore

Not so much with the airline itself I guess. As one can see on the A380ß fleet

Many cities in Germany do not want to be associated with flying because their citizens scream about the noise. I have suggested years ago in my town to get in touch with LH, we would qualify for a CRJ or Embreare. The magistrate is simply not pushing it because the Green matron and the FWG guy would be against it.

No, if you look closely, you will see that the vast majority of nameless Airbuses, with the exception of some off respray with Lufthansa Italia, are new aircraft. These aircraft get their names after a few months in service, it's very noticeable at a place like LHR where they are very common, as it means nameless airframes are always worth a second glance as it's often a new aircraft.
