Why So Late Flight Times To Tehran?

Just looking at flight times of some European airlines, you can see that they all arrive Tehran really late at night/very early in the morning. Why is this? Why no daytime flights? Is this a 'co-incidence', or just what makes the most sense for the airlines? Or does it have any political reasons?

Some examples are:

KLM from AMS: KL433 arriving at 3:30am
Lufthansa from FRA: LH600 arriving at 01:30am
Alitalia from FCO: AZ756 arriving at 04:05am
Austrian from VIE: OZ871 arriving at 03:00am
Aeroflot from SVO: SU512 arriving at 02:45am

Not sure what flight times Iranian operators use, but it seems like the European airlines flying to Tehran all have the same pattern.

Not really specific to Tehran... many flights to the Middle East take off and land in the middle of the night (TLV, AMM, DXB are the same). I would imagine that there are two factors at play. First, the schedule allows maximum aircraft utilization and easier connections with transatlantic flights (i.e. if the fight leaves Tehran early a.m. then it arrives at the European hub in time to connect to the TATL network). Second, it's easier for the aircraft to take off during the cooler hours of the day, especially important in summer.

I should correct that KL433 arrives at IKA at 23:10.
But I think the main reason is to match with North America flights, which are mostly operated at daytime.

It probably is today, however airlines are really prone to historical flight patterns - and the older first and second generation jets needed the middle of the night performance increases. Not so important with today's aircraft, but back 30-40 years ago...

Emirates at Dubai is probably a better view of modern aircraft capability plus optimal operational scheduling.

Emirates sends out several aircraft from Dubai to about a half dozen European airport in the 0200-0400 time frame. Which will connect will with Trans-Atlantic flights.

However, most of their flights to Europe depart at 0700-0900 - which works better for arrival in Europe for a partial business day.

Many reasons for the "bad" times:
- Connections from the European hub
- Best aircraft utilisation (they can use an unsed aircraft that would otheriwise be sat around overnight. Quite a few of the less prestigious Europe-Middle East routes (e.g. FRA-BEY, VIE-EVN etc) follow this pattern)
- Competitors have similar times, so no reason to waste a "better" slot on the Tehran flights
