That's pretty impressive. I lived in Orlando for quite a while but never would have guessed that MCO could support 3 daily flights to Brazil. Granted when you live in Orlando, you rarely visits the parks so perhaps I was just unaware of how popular Mickey Mouse is down south.

Are these just J/Y planes or do they have First cabins?

I remember visiting Orlando in the Nineties and seeing Varig and IIRC TransBrasil or VASP at MCO, plus the parks were packed with Brazilian tourists.

Also around that time I believe AA launched their own MCO-GRU flight.

Prices for clothes, beauty products, electronics are so high in Brazil that the amount of money saved when purchasing a load of things in the US could pay for the trip. I don't know how many people fly to the US just to shop, but I have seen a documentary about some people doing it just for that reason.

It is a lot. Seriously. A can of shaving foam is $16. As is brie, for example.
Internationally branded clothes/luxuries - forget it. Take a couple of empty suitcases, save a fortune on the way back. Real still relatively strong, even if it has come off in the last six months - it is a million miles away from the US$1:R$4 of ten years ago.

Orlando has been a very popular vacation destination for Brazilians for a long time. The market always existed. That's why TR, RG and AA already flew between MCO and Brazil. TAM decided to take a chance and established its own non-stop to MCO 3 years ago, offering Brazilians the opportunity to go directly to Orlando without having to connect in Miami. This maneuver was so successful that now JJ basically tripled their capacity on the market. The tickets are far from being low yield. Orlando shortly became one of TAM's top routes, pax and cargo wise.

I wouldn't be surprised if in the future the new B77Ws are deployed in this segment, instead of somewhere in Europe.

Another example: I bought a stroller for my daughter, payed US$ 800 with all the accessories included. The exact same stroller with all the accessories cost US$ 2.500 here in Brazil.

It´s insane.

TAM Airlines to Launch Rio de Janeiro – Orlando Service from Nov 2012

TAM has accelerated the launch date of the new daily GIG-MCO service. The new service will commence on 29OCT12:
TAM to start daily nonstop Rio de Janeiro-Orlando service on October 29

Also, LAN will resume seasonal service between Santiago de Chile and Orlando starting on 13JAN13. Seems like Orlando is becoming increasingly popular with South Americans.

This year, TAM's 4 new B77Ws will be deployed on the GRU-MIA and GRU-JFK routes. TAM's 4 other B77Ws will remain on the GRU-FRA, GRU-LHR and GRU-SCL routes. However next year when TAM receives 2 more B77Ws, I wouldn't be surprised if TAM deployed one of them on the daily GIG-MIA service.

My partner is Brazilian and he loves Disneyworld and Universal more than anything. He is 37 years old too. There is something about these attractions that draw Brazilians like crazy.

Last time I was there was 2 years ago. The ratio of Brazilian tour groups (CNA?) to any other is 4 to 1. The arena for the Micky Wizard show was like a football stadium in Rio. One only heard Portuguese spoken and the kids and teens sang Brazilian songs so loud my eardrums burst...with a thousand Brazilian flags.

An old friend I stay in touch with lives and works in Tampa, she works the reservation lines for Disney. She told me that the section of Portuguese speaking reservation section is the largest.

I am not at all surprised. In fact I am surprised there aren't more flights. Perhaps there are? How many charter flights are there? Do any US airlines do that route?

Brazil is the country of the future...and this time really is!
The world is missing love, let's use our flights to spread it!

Everything became more difficult to predict now. TAM crews were informed that the airline will phase out all 3 763 this year.

I would guess that the A332s that are freed up by the B77Ws would take over not only the GIG-MCO route, but also the GIG-MIA, BSB-MIA and CNF-MIA route. TAM may revert the MAO-MIA route back to an A320 service since the a/c from the GRU-BOG route will be freed up. Does JJ still deploy the A332 on the GRU-MAO route?

From the UK, would always see large tour groups around the parks.
Very polite people, usually one or two up front holding the national flag for the group to follow.
Seem to be more of them towards the end of the year.

Back in 2004 when I took a trip to Brazil, my pregnant Colombian friend who was living in Sao Paulo asked me to buy a stroller for her (she would pay me back) and bring it down to Brazil for her. She said they don't carry good brands in Brazil and they are outrageously expensive. Fortunately I flew non-stop ORD-GRU but I did have to custom wrap it since the original box was too big, overall was a pain in the ass. While on the trip, I was walking through a mall and came across a baby store with a bunch of strollers...sure enough exact same stroller for the exact same price, I wanted to kill her! Granted this was 8 years ago...

The two B77Ws being deployed on the MIA-GRU route will free up two A332s, one of which will be deployed on the GIG-MCO route, freeing up one A332. Two B77Ws could operate the GRU-JFK route 2x daily, freeing up two more A332s:

JJ8080 22:30 GRU 05:30+1 JFK A332 daily
JJ8083 07:25 JFK 20:25 GRU A332 daily

JJ8082 08:45 GRU 15:45 JFK A332 daily
JJ8081 17:40 JFK 06:40+1 GRU A332 daily

Thus, the 3 A332s could replace TAM's fleet of 3 B-767-300ERs.

In theory 500USD, but personal items, such as clothes , fragrances and etc. have no limit as long as it's obvious they're not being brought into the country for resale. As long as you don't by many of the same you're generally good to go.

Even items such as cameras, smartphones and tablets get a blind eye. Customs police is really strict about large electronics (computers etc.), liquor and tobacco.

I once brought back a Dyson vacuum cleaner, in the original box, no questions asked.

And of course it also depends on the officer, some of them just let you go even if you're carrying 10 suitcases LOL, some of them stopped me even though I had only a small CARRY ON backpack!!!!

But if you're foreigner, they're unlikely to mess with you, as long as you don't bring 15 bottles of the same product! as the guys have said above!
