Xiamen 737 Order

Fri Aug 03, 2012 1:44 pm

Airwise is reporting an order for 40 737s from China Southern's Xiamen subsidiary. There are no details regarding NG vs. MAX or models - anyone have more insights?

It's in Chinese, but it does confirm that it is 737-800 that Xiamen is ordering.

I assume they need the capacity sooner rather than later since there are no -8's in the order (at least according to the few news releases I can find). Existing -800 customr topping up. And a sign of the times that an order for 40 frames garners barely a yawn from the press or a.net....

Could this see the end of the 757 in Xiamen's fleet. I think they have about six left and some of the last from the line, no winglets so good for FR conversion.
