US Airways F/A Bases

Sat Aug 04, 2012 3:46 am

Can someone tell me the current flight attendant bases for US Airways?

Also, I remember some time ago I saw a F/A job posting on US's website, and it specifically said the new-hires would be for PHX. Although there are no current F/A openings, is US still hiring for specific bases? (When I was hired for US back in 1999, we had no idea where we would be based until a few days before graduation).

Thanks in advance for answering my curiosity questions!

Current bases are CLT, DCA, PHL, and PHX.

US Airways (east) has bases in CLT, PHL and DCA
US Airway (west) has a base in PHX

As stated above, current bases are PHX, DCA, PHL, and CLT. BOS, LGA, LAS, and I think PIT closed about two years ago.

Looking even further back, bases could also be found at BWI, and LAX and SFO. I think LAX/SFO closed in the late 90s while BWI was closed after 9/11.

There may have been a base at MCO during the MetroJet days and there may have been a base at FLL during the focus city times.

So all these FAs are commuting to CLT?

SEA is a FA base for US? Kinda find that hard to believe. How many flights a day do they have out of there?

SEA. BOS, LGA, LAS

I just did a quick search on wiki and there is conformation that both the BOS and LAS crew bases were closed in 2009. I couldn't find any information about F/A bases in LGA and SEA. I can believe there is/was a F/A base at LGA, but I just can't imagine one being at SEA since they never really had any other P2P service out of SEA. They don't even have service to DCA, but that could be AS already has service.

BOS and LGA closed at approximately the same time. Their respective closures were announced simultaneously, I believe.

PIT closed in 2008, IIRC. LAS was next to go, followed by BOS and LGA at approximately the same time.

SEA was never a F/A base.

Like I said above, my touchpad swapped CLT with SEA.

I thought LAS went before BOS. Surprising. At the time of all of the closures I was much more concerned about the Shuttle operations than the West operations, TBH.

Actually, SAN and SFO were the first west coast bases to be closed. LAX was the last hold out and closed during the Stephen Wolf era, which would've been sometime during the 1997-98 period.

After both PSA and Piedmont were folded into USAir, in addition to SFO, LAX and SAN on the west coast, there were also crew bases in MIA (former PI Shuttle crew base); GSO; SYR (former Empire crew base), in addition to the BWI and CLT bases. While DAY was a hub for PI, I am not sure if it was ever a crew base.
