LAN Increasing Flights To Bolivia

Sat Aug 04, 2012 10:19 am

With the collapse of the Bolivian carrier Aerosur, LAN will boost flights into both LPB and VVI. Starting on 01NOV12, LAN Perú will launch a new daily service between Lima and both La Paz and Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Thus, LAN Perú will offer two daily flights into both LPB and VVI.

*LA2561 LIM-LPB-VVI Daily (A319)
*LA2569 VVI-LPB-LIM Daily (A319)

LA2567 LIM-VVI-LPB-LIM 4x weekly (A319)
LA2563 LIM-LPB-VVI-LIM 3x weekly (A319)

*LAN Perú's new flights to LPB and VVI will offer passengers rapid connections via LIM to/from Punta Cana, Bogotá, Cancún, Quito, La Habana, Caracas, Miami, Nueva York, Los Ángeles, San Francisco, México and Madrid.

LAN Airlines will also add more flights to Bolivia for the high season. In January, LAN will add 4 additional weekly flights from SCL to LPB via IQQ:
LA964 SCL-IQQ-LPB 4x weekly (A320)
LA965 LPB-IQQ-SCL 4x weekly (A320)

LAN Airlines currently operates seven weekly flights between Santiago de Chile and Bolivia via Iquique, Chile:
LA968 SCL-IQQ-LPB 4x weekly (A320)
LA969 LPB-IQQ-SCL 4x weekly (A320)
LA970 SCL-IQQ-VVI 3x weekly (A320)
LA971 VVI-IQQ-SCL 3x weekly (A320)

Good to hear, but I would rather see two separated flights dedicated to each city, i.e. one daily LIM-LPB-LIM and one daily LIM-VVI-LIM. But I suppose in this current way they can match connections better.

LAN Perú will serve both LPB and VVI twice daily in order to maximize connections via the LIM hub. LAN Perú will also increase flights to destinations such as JFK, LAX, MIA, etc. starting in October. LAN will operate LIM-JFK 11x weekly, LIM-LAX 13x weekly, LIM-MIA 17x weekly, etc. With its oneworld alliance partners, AA and IB, LAN will offer 31 weekly non-stop flights between LIM and MIA and up to 17 weekly non-stop flights between LIM and MAD offering more connections to these destinations via the LIM hub.

Great news. It was about time. Now I wonder when LP will finally launch flight service between Lima and Cochabamba. With AeroSur gone it's now time for LP to launch flights to Washington Dulles with the 767.

LAN dominates both the Peruvian international and domestic markets. LIM serves as a major domestic hub for LAN where LAN serves 13 other cities in Perú. For example, the two busiest domestic routes in Perú are the LIM-CUZ and the LIM-AQP routes. LAN currently operates the LIM-CUZ route up to 20x daily and the LIM-AQP route up to 12x daily; whereas LAN's rival TA operates the LIM-CUZ route up to 4x daily and the LIM-AQP route twice daily. LAN also uses the B763s on many regional routes such as LIM-CCS, LIM-EZE, LIM-GYE, LIM-GRU, LIM-SCL, etc. Routes such as LIM-SCL operate 8x daily, LIM-EZE operates 3x daily, LIM-GRU operates 3x daily, etc. LAN will soon increase frequency on more routes from the LIM hub including the LIM-GRU, LIM-UIO and LIM-MEX routes.

Peru traffic grows 12% in first half 2012; domestic capacity up 20% in November, but LAN still dominates

Would LP fly to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in the future ?

I didn't remember TA LIM-CUZ flying more than 3x daily flights in such route.
TA LIM-AQP is 14x weekly nowadays and it operated up to 25x weekly in January 2012. TA CUZ-AQP is still active as thrice a week.

LAN would increase frequency on the daily LIM-PUJ service first. PUJ is a busy destination for LAN; this is why LA is increasing frequency on the SCL-PUJ-MIA route. The same applies to the daily LIM-CUN service. Also, LP is keen to consolidate its leading position in the Perú-U.S. market. LAN Perú will soon launch LIM-JFK 4x weekly and hopes to operate the route daily alongside LA's daily service. LAN Perú will also increase frequency on the LIM-LAX route to 6x weekly and will eventually add an additional frequency to make it a daily service; operating alongside LA's daily service.

Not according to GDS.
