Cessna Down At SCQ: Debris, Freaks (PIC)

Mon Aug 06, 2012 9:31 am

On Thursday 2 August a Cessna Citation crashed near SCQ (Santiago de Compostela, Spain). Both pilots dead (RIP). They were heading to their base in SCQ just having delivered a heart at a hospital in Asturias. Until here nothing extraordinary, just a "normal" accident. What has caught my attention are the following pictures.

I don't find it normal. It is rather revolting. All the debris should have be removed just after the investigators left the place, I suppose. What happens in other places in a case like this? Or is this just another typical Spanish mess? Regards

Seems pretty normal, on the news there is often a section with all the car accidents and pictures of crash scenes with pools of blood. Very unexpected and disarming the first time you see it. Either that or the people I was staying with liked to see blood...

Always a huge shame to lose lives from any accident. SCQ is notorious for early morning fog and most airports in the surrounding area suffer from it at the same time, making choice of alternate airport very difficult. On 2nd Aug it was indeed foggy in the morning.
