Glad you went for a consolidated thread for all things CLT

Frontier: Hell, throw some grant money at them and they'll fly anywhere, so who knows, possibly.

Virgin America: I don't see it happening at all. There definitely is a CLT-LAX/SFO market, but US dominates it and it's not large enough to really warrant duking it out with US.

Alaska: Basically the same as Virgin America. US dominates CLT-SEA/PDX and the market isn't large enough to justify fighting US for market-share.

It'll definitely be interesting to see what they do with CLT/how large of a station they will make, until the merger FL had been on a downward trend at CLT so it will be intriguing to see what WN does with it.

The future? Well of course the most pressing topic about CLT's future is an AA/US merger. I think most will agree it will always remain a hub, but food for thought is what size it will be, what routes will stay or go...or be added if one takes Doug Parker's statements at face value and believes that CLT would expand to 900 daily flights with a merger, IMO that's bull, but will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

What does the demographics look like for CLT? I know there are several trans-Atlantic services and US has a big presence with mainline and Express - is Charlotte a big destination for tourists, lots of O&D or connecting flights or all of the above? Is Charlotte a wealthy city or hit big by recession etc?
Come, fly the prevailing winds with me

Charlotte is not huge on tourists but there is more business and connecting passengers I honestly believe Alaska could make a 1x daily flight. Charlotte isn't that small
