Can Anybody Explain This?

Wed Aug 08, 2012 4:11 am

Hi guys, just browsing on Google I noticed this interesting scene. A NW Colored 747 and a United Airbus with the new colors on it...I would've thought by the time the first UA Airbus was painted to new, there would've been no NW Colored 747 left..

Splicing together two satellite photos taken at different times? It could be two different pictures.

It would appear (see links below) that the last NW livery 744 was a year before the first Continited A320. So is the Google pic a composite of two different times?

Appears there's a 777 in the new UA/CO livery, too......in the bottom right corner.....the copyright date says 2012.......what gives?

It looks like an image spliced together. It is a pretty good job some I can't see the line. When you zoom in and out airplanes disappear and change.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

Also at the terminal where the NW 744 is, there is a 737 and a 757 - both with "Continental" titles. The Continental titles were changed to United name decals much quicker than the tulip repaints. Seeing the number of widebodies at the United terminal that are in new livery, this would also add to the "evidence" that the NW/CO side is an older photo. Good eye, OP.

Wow, they did an amazing job putting that together. I was looking at it on Google and it looks like the New UA, CO, and NW planes were all there at the same time. Wow!
Worked Hard. Flew Right. Farewell, Continental. Thanks for the memories.

That is what it is. They splice two different shots. Not just at airports, either. If I look up my house, it shows the car I had in 2008 in my driveway, yet two blocks over, my friend's brand new car is visible parked out front of his house.
