Small Plane Hits Building In Santa Monica?

Sat Aug 11, 2012 1:48 am

Haven't gotten a source besides a post by MyFoxPhoenix relaying something from a sister station in LA. What's going on over there?

Only thing that they say is that it was a small plane which clipped a tree and slammed into something else, no word on injuries but sounds quite serious

A friend of mine that lives in Westwood, along Santa Monica Blvd, just posted on Facebook that a plane had just crashed 6 buildings away from her.

According to my source it crashed in Westwood at the intersection of Glendon Ave and Mississippi Ave.

from @KimNBCLA on twitter:

LAFD says pilot dead in Westwood plane crash. No homes hit. No injuries on ground. Less than 2 miles from Santa Monica airport

Pilot declared an emergency shortly after leaving Santa Monica airport. Plane registered to Santa Monica resident.

I know exactly where that is; don't live far from it, in fact. Always sad to hear about these incidents. They are happening way to often.

Sounds a lot like Paulo's crash, except he made it back to the airport before crashing.
