UA 757 Evacuated @ SEA

Mon Aug 13, 2012 3:28 am

Didn't see this posted before.

Apparently last night, a small fire broke out on flight 776 as it prepared to depart for IAD.

That is one good looking nose cone. Glad that everyone got okay, too.

Was the plane away from the gate? Or was it still parked?

I believe it was at the gate still, but fully loaded and ready to go.

Sure it wasn't just a cold starting APU like this one?

When I worked the ramp at BWI, we had a 737 do the same thing. The F/As smelled smoke and thought there was a fire. Turned out it was just the APU cold starting. (There's a term for this but I can't remember it) Someone correct me f I'm wrong. That nose cone is starting to look like our Saabs.

It might have been, because the flight only left two hours late, and on the same plane.

Was this a real aircraft evacuation? Or was it some journalists who wrote a story inappropriately using official industry airline lingo.

To the poster of the thread....I see you have posted over 1/2 of a thousand posts on airlliners.net... why put a post on here of an aircraft parked at the gate, but use indistry lingo that implies the had an emergency "evacuation" from an inexperienced journalists ?

I don't get it....!!!

?? I posted the story about a plane that was evactuated. Whether it was at the gate or not, is was still evacuated and could have been a much more serious situation if it had been handled differently. I don't get what your objection to my posting of this story is?

And by the way.it was a real evacuation. Where I got it does not post bogus stories.

I'll defend spiritair here. The subject line is very succinct. It simply states a United 757 was evacuated at SEA, and that is exactly what happened. Whether it was evacuated via the slides or the jet bridge, there was still report of a fire and it was still evacuated.

If we were to believe CBS's news programs, the plane erupted into flames with 150+ passengers on board.
