LHR A380 Movements - Help Please?

Fri Aug 17, 2012 1:35 pm

I'm spending a couple of days at LHR next week in an airport hotel on the A4. The hotel has a garden area right beside the threshold for runway 28 right and I'm intending to spend some time out there with my camera. Can any A-Netter please help by letting me have an idea of the various A380 movements in and out of LHR on a week day please?

Hi,

27R (A4 side) was the primary inbound runway this morning after 7am, with 27L the primary outbound.

Next week should be the other way around, with a switch-over around 2pm if I remember correctly.

This is assuming there are westerly winds (which are more common at Heathrow), however, this evening, the winds are easterly and 09 is in use.

Between 4.30am and 6am expect a few landings (normally including 2-3 A380s)
Between 6am and 7am, expect landings on either runway to get the 'heavies' down.

Hope you get good weather.

Regards,
Martyn

I believe LHR runways were renumbered from 10/28 to 09/27 in July 1987.
