Earlier in the year, US Airways and Virgin Atlantic expanded their codeshare relationship to include additional US East Coast domestic city-pairs along with the US LHR-PHL route. ( US Airways - Virgin Atlantic Expand Codeshare (by LAXintl Jun 13 2012 in Civil Aviation) )
Today the carriers are back to the DOT to further expand the code-share to now include all Atlantic city pairs between the US and United Kingdom operated.
The carriers note they will still fully compete with each other however request the authorization to "compete more effectively; and offer better and more fully integrated services to respective customers".
Interesting how this relationship which is based out of 1990s code-share with America West continues to grow, especially now with US in Star.
