SeaPort Moves To The Main Terminal @ PDX

Mon Sep 03, 2012 2:08 pm

SeaPort Airlines moved from the Atlantic FBO to the main Terminal on September 1st. Their ticket counter is next to United. As of right now. They are operating out of B3. When the north ramp construction is completed. They will move down to E6.

I don't know why they moved to the main terminal. Their passengers now have to go through security. They have to pay the very high lease fees the Port charges to the Airlines. I wonder if Atlantic didn't want them down at their FBO anymore?

They only fly to three cities from PDX, OTH, PDT, and YKM.

Do they have a codeshare with AS? That would to me be the only good reason to move to B.

Wow, that's nuts. Hard operation to figure out.

Only flew them once (PDX-BFI) and the whole point was that you showed up 15min before the flight, boarded and were out of there.

I wonder if they gave up to conformity and decided that they would get higher passenger loads if they flew into the terminal where more logistics (i.e. restaurants, rental cars, taxis, etc.) are available.

This would also be more convenient for those who are connecting to or from other flights.

They had free car valet service at the FBO. Their customers also had Hertz at the FBO. I have a feeling they won't last long at the main terminal. The Port will Nickel and Dime them to death.

I hear it that they will be announcing some sort of interline deals so this move was made to easier facilitate pax xfer as well as bag xfer ( I guess). When they flew their short-lived BOI-IDA runs I was really amazed they utilized the main terms and secure gates etc at BOI and IDA. So I guess only MEM and MCI utilize FBOs now?

There's your answer. Since they dropped PDX-BFI, they don't really have a reason to offer the whole "skip security and be on your way in minutes" model since they're no longer targeting the Portland-Seattle business market. Being in the main terminal probably makes more sense with their current services since most of their passengers will probably be connecting at PDX.

I heard they were being hassled and or ripped off at Atlantic. Who knows, maybe the Port of Portland will be cheaper than Atlantic even if they get nickeled and dimed.

started 9/1- the ideas are to 1. get fuller flights by codesharing with AS and 2. provide service for AS to cities that dont perform well from PDX, or dont have Q400 service.

hard to not get hassled when you dont pay your bills on time...

I have been saying K5's only chance of surviving here in the Pacific Northwest would be bringing AS back to places they used to be with Q200's, but can't work on a Q400, like LMT, PDT, OTH, AST, SLE=SEA would work for AS connections.
AS could bring more options to travellers in the Northwest by having K5 do the flying for them. Hope it works for all.

I an at BNA often and they park next to us at the C gates. I believe American Eagle employees ground handle the flights as well. Do the pax deplane into the terminal there? If pax originate in Jackson, they do not clear TSA security according to their website. What prevents pax from boarding another flight on another airline?
