Air Asia To Offer ( Kids Free! ) Quiet Zone

Tue Sep 04, 2012 8:19 pm

In a move similar to Malasya's "child free" cabin for the upper deck of its A380, now Air Asia X is offering a similar product with a section of the aircraft where no kids ( and no screaming / crying babies ) will be allowed. Probably a decision that some people could find "discriminatory", but hey, they did a research, and 80 % ( wow !!!... 80 % !!! ) of the people answered they would pay extra for this product. Funny thing, customers fight toe and nail against a 2 bucks fee for overweight on luggage or high priced fuel, but there is no problem to pay extra to get away from the kids        http://www.airlinetrends.com/2012/09/02/airasiax-kids-free-quiet-zone/

Nothing makes a flight more unpleasant than listening to kids screaming throughout. Or children running up and down the aisle, with their parents who are all too enamored to tell the kids to sit down and shut up. I would pay extra to require all children be placed in overhead bins if that weren't so thoroughly illegal.

I think US airlines should think about doing this too. Personally, I would pay more for a kids free flight.

LOL !!! You are going a little so far, don't you think ?

But yes, I'm too in that 80 % of people who happily want to pay extra for the peace...I had my good dose ( or maybe overdose ) of children doing scandals all over the place. Frankly, I think the parents of those kids, who are not aware ( or doesn't care ) how disturbing can be the kids running and screaming all over the place, should pay a good extra fee for bad behavior, and pay proportionally to the time of flight and number of other passengers suffering the pain of having them on board.

PS : I love kids, but I'm flying since I was 2 y.o., and my parents always did everything to avoid disturbing other people in the flight. As an adult OTOH, I had to deal with 5 - 6 y.o. beauties kicking the back of my seat one hour before asking the mother to "Please control your child"       ...so yes, I blame the parents, but I choose to stay away from the kids...

You can't blame the kids, it's the parents fault who apparently think educating their child is not really something they ought a do or that traveling with crying infants isn't a smart thing to do. Yes, I know there are times you have to travel, but going on a purely leisure trip with a screaming infant is just inconsiderate I think.

So yeah, yes please to child free zones

I am all for it. But it will open up a source of conflicts. They have mostly A-320s, say they reserve the last half for families, the people who pay more to fly in the front half, can they ask their surcharge back when the kids in the back are particularly noisy and still noone can sleep? Or if kids in the front row of their section are kicking in the last row of the quiet section?
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

My fault !!!! Is not Air Asia. Is Air Asia X, so the fleet is A330 only ( with A350 orders ).
In the article there is a lay out of the cabin, but I'm not so sure if that lay out belongs to the Air Asia X A330 or the Malaysia A380 ( I think is the latter ).

So you are suggesting:

1) Parents with children 1-5 should stay home for all of those 5 years.
2) Give a good dose of propofol to any infant who dares get on board a plane.

Ridiculous.

Infants, screaming or otherwise, are part of sociey just as you and I are and yes, for whichever reason, sometimes they need to travel.

Well said. As a parent of 2 small children, I hope this happens, I won't have to be quite so guilty if they were to act up.
